Artist’s Statement

My approach to abstraction comes from the original Latin meaning of the word which means “to pull away from” which is to say that the work begins with an actual thing, place, or experience as opposed to non-objective abstraction.

For a long time, my source has been aspects of Mediterranean culture, historical and contemporary, real and imagined.
